The Main Conventions of a Magazine

The conventions of a magazine means a widely accepted way of doing things. These are the main magazine conventions are: 

• Conventions- The widely accepted way of doing things. This can be used for any type of media.
• Masthead- The title/brand of a magazine.
• Image- A photograph or a graphic (drawing or digital).
• Cover line features- List of content in the magazine .
• Anchors- The text which links to the image.
• Bleeding- When the image covers the text and vise versa.
• Angle of gaze- The angle in which the subject is looking at the audience.
• Puff- Like a 'puff' of information, a small piece of text to help boast the statues of magazine. This can be used as cover lines and in the form of a sticker.
• Plugs- Information about the context of the magazine. It (plugs) promotes a magazine.
• Full quote- A  quote from an interview inside the magazine.
• Caption- Piece of text connected to an image.

      Sometimes magazines may also use a technique called bleeding when the magazine uses the models face to cover their masthead this is usually done when they are confident enough that most people will know their brand
